St. Aidan’s says goodbye to the Reverend Lynn V. Rutledge.

October is a time of both sadness and great joy here at St. Aidan’s. The sadness is in losing the services of our beloved Rector Lynn Rutledge at the end of October. She has faithfully shepherded our small mission church’s growth into a flourishing parish. She has led us through a joyous restoration of our beautiful worship space and was there with us day by day as we faced the unparalleled challenges of Covid-19, leading us and, yes, making us even stronger, with a dedication that was founded in Jesus’s message. To those of us who worked with her closely, she was almost superhuman in her ability to bring us even closer to Christ. That said, it is with great joy that we celebrate her retirement and the beginning of the next chapter of her life. Sundays, Oct. 9 and Oct. 23, will be her final services with us at St. Aidan’s, which anyone is welcome to attend and have a chance in which to say goodbye. If you cannot attend and would like to send a card, you can send it to the church at the address below, and we will make sure she gets it: St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, ATTN: Rev. Lynn Rutledge, P.O. Box 271, Machias, ME 04654. Questions can be directed to Suzie O’Clair, Senior Warden, 207 255-4995, St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 36 Dublin St., Machias, ME 04655
